WilmingtonJuly 28, 2026

Delaware Governor Matt Meyer joined CEO Renaud Laplanche and other executives for grand opening ceremony on July 16 Upgrade, Inc., a fintech company that offers affordable and responsible credit and banking products to mainstream consumers, celebrated the grand opening of its new Wilmington, Delaware, office on July 16, 2026. Delaware Governor Matt Meyer joined Upgrade CEO Renaud Laplanche for a ribbon-cutting ceremony marking the company's expansion into The First State.

The company recently achieved two key milestones, exceeding $50 billion in affordable consumer credit made available to over 8 million customers.

The Wilmington office will serve as a hub for Upgrade's Card and Personal Loans teams. Delaware's deep-rooted financial services ecosystem and proximity to major East Coast markets made it a natural choice for the company's continued expansion.

"Delawareans are getting squeezed by the rising cost of everyday life, which is why innovative fintech companies like Upgrade matter," said Governor Matt Meyer. "By expanding access to responsible, affordable credit, Upgrade is helping make economic opportunity more attainable for hardworking Delawareans while creating quality jobs and reinforcing Delaware's leadership as a hub for financial services."

"Opening our Wilmington office is an exciting milestone for Upgrade," said Renaud Laplanche, CEO of Upgrade. "Delaware has a strong tradition in financial services, and we are proud to invest in this community. This office reflects our confidence in the region's talent and our commitment to building a lasting presence here."

The Wilmington office will support Upgrade's consumer lending areas, including its OneCard product. Sumit Agarwal, Head of Cards, will play a central role in building out the team.

"Wilmington is an ideal location to grow consumer lending, particularly cards and personal loans," said Sumit Agarwal, Head of Cards at Upgrade. "The financial services expertise here is unmatched, and we are excited to tap into that deep talent pool as we continue expanding the Upgrade portfolio."
